The Joys of Living in Costa Rica

For those who would like to live in Latin America, there are many choices.  There is one that stands out in several ways.  If you want a beautiful place to be, you might like to know the joys of living in Costa Rica.

Living in Costa Rica, you will indeed be surrounded by beauty.  There is green flora everywhere.  The country only takes up three hundredths of the world’s land mass.  Yet, it harbors almost six percent of the species of plants and animals on earth.

You will find that Costa Rica has several microclimates.  If you are living in Costa Rica, you can travel from one kind of weather to another in a short time without leaving the country.  The microclimates each have different kinds of flora and fauna as well as different kinds of weather.

There is cold volcanic tundra for those who would like to cool off.  A unique area for those living in Costa Rica to visit is the exotic cloud forest.  Here, the cloud touches down on the land and bird life abounds.

There are deep jungles and dry forests for those living in Costa Rica to explore.  There are also the beautiful warm beaches.  Finally, anyone living in Costa Rica will want to visit the Tortuga Canals.  These are natural and manmade waterfalls. Vegetation and wildlife are abundant.

Those living in Costa Rica will enjoy an overall pleasant climate.  The temperatures are generally in the high sixties during the dry season.  This lasts from December to May.  The rest of the year is the rainy season.  During this time, mornings are lovely and sunny and the afternoons bring gentle showers.

The Flamingo Beach area offers many residential options for those wishing to relocate and retire near the new Flamingo Marina.  A large percentage of the homeowners in Flamingo area actually live in Flamingo all year. Guanacaste is a popular region among those wishing to retire in Costa Rica.

The official language is Spanish.  However there are many schools available for those new to living in Costa Rica to learn the language.  Also, many Costa Ricans speak and understand some English.

The religion of those in the country is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic.  Yet, if you are living in Costa Rica and would like to follow another religion, it will be easy for you.  Their constitution guarantees a freedom of creed, and that is respected.

If you relocate to Costa Rica with your children, you will not be disappointed.  Costa Rica has one of the best public education systems in Latin America.  Since they require the students to learn at least one foreign language, your child living in Costa Rica may also have students to speak to in English.

The healthcare system for those living in Costa Rica is phenomenal among Latin American countries.  Health insurance is inexpensive there.  Healthcare is of high quality and readily available.

Those living in Costa Rica will be happy to know that there are several fine hospitals nearby.  Also, there are many clinics available in cities and villages all over the country.  Some of these are open around the clock.

The cost of living is very easy to manage for those living in Costa Rica.  For example, the cost of the average household budget was $584 in 2004.  This included a three bedroom house, a maid, and over $100 in entertainment allowances.

There are many happy reasons for people to enjoy living in Costa Rica.  It is just a few hours by plane from Miami.  For many, it is a dream come true.
