The town
The Flamingo Beach is a top tourist destination and is located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. This town and its stretches of golden beaches have plenty on offer for its visitors. The scenery at Flamingo Beach is a dry and tropical one, but the luxury of the constructions around it offers a sharp contrast. If one drives to Flamingo Beach from San Jose, they will be surprised by the luxurious houses and villas that are set in Playa Flamingo.
Things to do
Flamingo Beach has a lot to offer its visitors. For all the night owls there are bars, night clubs and hotel casinos that can keep you awake till the wee hours of the morning.
The town of Flamingo also offers fishing, jet skiing, kayaking and snorkelling. Swimming is the safest on the Flamingo, Potrero, and Brasilto beaches. There is also an International Sport Fishing Tournament held here every year. Horseback riding is also available along the sandy beaches of Flamingo.
Diving tours are also very popular. These are available at the new Flamingo Beach Marina. The most noted one is the tour to the island of Catalina, where rock formations are in abundance. The encounters with the deep here may include snappers, sharks, devilfish and turtles. Further up is the diving tour to Bat Island where one will come across some of the most beautiful coral reefs and life underwater. This spot is also known for the regal bull shark. Cruises on the Pacific Ocean are also available. These romantic cruises offer beautiful sunsets from the yacht deck. Flamingo also has an amazing variety of wildlife.
Of course if none of the activities above are appealing enough, then one can always choose to laze around on the beach. It must be noted however that the sun can get extremely hot and it would be best to stay off the beaches between 10 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Best time to visit
Flamingo Beach is good all year round. Fishing however is best during the months of May to October. If the famous yellow fin tuna is what one is after then these would definitely be the best months to visit. Diving around the island of Catalina is best from December to May.
